Meet Carol Gibbins
Carol
opened her first shop with her husband and partner in 1981. The shop was an immediate
success and both enjoyed the journey.
Carol opened another shop in 1989 on the same street in Houston. Until 1999, most
of her inventory came from England, but with antiques in short supply in the U.K.,
Carol branched out to France and Sweden.
Carol Gibbins has an interior design license in Texas. Carol has a good eye for
buying the unusual. With the knowledge gained over these many years, quality is her
main focus.
As both an interior designer and an antique dealer, restoration of old houses in
particular has been a big part of Carol’s life. One of the houses she restored
was part of the home tour in Galveston in 2002.
Carol makes three to five buying trips every year. which helps her keep the shop
in Houston full of inventory on three large floors.
Carol Gibbins Antiques will ship any where in the world, occasionally some pieces
even make a return trip to England. It is not uncommon, for example, for a customer
to fly in from Chile and ship eleven period oak items back home.
Carol has been listed in Country Home magazine as a resource for antiques in several
issues over the years. Turner Broadcasting in Atlanta featured Carol on a special
about unusual people who love what they do in life.
